Theater Essentials Online is a library of video lessons for grades 7-12 led by local theater professionals. Designed to be completely flexible for in-person, hybrid or fully remote models of learning, each video lesson connects with state standards and includes study guides, student worksheets and other resources. 

Theater Essentials Online videos are designed to support select Nebraska state standards for the fine arts. Connections to standards vary according to the grade level and how teachers incorporate videos and accompanying worksheets into their existing curriculum goals. Creating Your Character’s Physical Body with Wai Yim

Have you ever felt disconnected between your own body and your character’s body? Well fear not! Professional actor Wai Yim will help you physicalize your character by exploring the three essential body centers: the head, the heart, and the stomach. His guided exercise will help you understand where your character’s energy is focused so that you can explore the world of possibilities of the role you’re playing!

About Wai Yim
Wai Yim is the artistic director of aetherplough, a performance art company in Omaha, NE. He recently directed and choreographed Spring Awakening, the musical at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Other directing/ choreographing credit includes: genesis 2.0 (aetherplough),  A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (Chanticleer Theatre). As a proud member of Actors’ Equity, his Chicago acting credit includes: Postnation, King of the Yees, The King of Hell’s Palace (Goodman Theatre), Chimerica (TimeLine Theatre). He has also worked with The Lookingglass Theatre Company and Victory Gardens Theater. Regional credit includes: The White Snake directed by Mary Zimmerman (Goodman Theatre, Old Globe Theatre, McCarter Theatre, WuZhen Theatre Festival in China), The Oldest Boy (Unicorn Theatre). In Omaha, he has worked with SNAP! Productions, Shelterbelt Theatre, Nebraska Shakespeare Festival, Nebraska Theatre Caravan, The Rose, Chanticleer Theatre, Omaha Playhouse, UNO Theatre and Blue Barn Theatre.  His TV credit includes: Patriot (Amazon) and The Chi (Showtime).
