In Nebraska, we can never quite say that the weather is indicative of the season, but most summers, it sure is HOT.
The shows we bring to town aren’t any different, as we gear up for another season of outdoor concert series, community programs, exciting touring acts and weekly jazz performances at Midtown Crossing at Turner Park.
To dive into the sizzling titles we will present this summer, I asked some of my colleagues to share what they are most excited to see. After all, we’ve watched the Mammel Courtyard receive a little facelift in preparation for our outdoor concerts from our office windows at the Holland Center for the last couple of weeks. We’re ready to make a splash!

With bands like Big Sam’s Funky Nation…
“I’m looking forward to Big Sam’s Funky Nation at Jazz on the Green. Not only is it opening night, which has its own energy, this one looks to make the night even more fun. The crowd will be rocking and just happy to start out the season. Everyone will be in a great mood!” - Joni, Front of House
Or, The Original Pinette’s Brass Band
“A show that I’m really looking forward to this summer is The Original Pinettes Brass Band at Jazz on the Green! First off, they’re the only all-female brass band from New Orleans, which intrigued me right away. I started listening to their music and it is so upbeat, fun and fresh. Can’t wait to see these “Street Queens” at Jazz on the Green!”
-Taylor, Education
And Paa Kow and his Afro-fusion Orchestra, performing July 25!
“I am super excited for the Paa Kow JOTG performance.” - Emily, Guckenheimer Catering
Rhett & Link: Live in Concert
“I am most excited for Rhett and Link. They are excellent examples of the modern entertainer; their fame began on a social media platform with humor based on popular culture and satirical sketches. Their backstory is interesting to think about – they met in 1st grade and bonded over a love of production. They’re witty, creative, passionate, and unapologetically hilarious. They were born to be entertainers and it’s inspiring to see two people who are living a life they love.”- Anna, IT
“I am looking forward to Rhett & Link. I am excited to see how their YouTube show translates on to the stage. And it should be hilarious.” - Koryn, Programming
Mwenso & The Shakes
Summer Sounds at Highlander
“The Summer Sounds series is going to be awesome! I love that Omaha Performing Arts brings such a diverse lineup to their summer shows.” - Will, Marketing
“I’m excited about the Summer Sounds at Highlander concerts because it’s always a good time when we partner with 75 North. I’m excited to have the opportunity to start this new concert series in the Highlander neighborhood and to present the groups that will perform this year. It’s always fun to see the community come out in support and just have a good time.” - Dominic, Community Engagement
Paw Patrol Live!
“My daughter absolutely loves Paw Patrol! She had a great experience ‘meeting’ Daniel Tiger last year and I know she will love meeting Marshall, Chase, Skye and the other pups. It's going to be the perfect early birthday gift!” - Jenn, Human Relations
