Ready to rumba?

We can’t wait to dance in the aisles when Broadway’s ON YOUR FEET! congas into Omaha this month. The show plays through March 3 at the Orpheum Theater.

ON YOUR FEET! tells the real-life story of Gloria and Emilio Estefan’s rise to international stardom. Here’s a few fun facts about the incredible couple and the musical that shares their lives!

1. The musical is first and foremost, a love story

   Did you know Emilio and Gloria are each other’s first loves? Both emigrated from Cuba at an early age, bringing with them a deep love of music. They met through music and have been married for almost 40 years. The production shows how they met, fell in love and how they bring out the best in each other year after year.

2. Can you say “Power Couple”?

   Gloria and Emilio met through music. They went on to play with the Miami Sound Machine and later Gloria went solo. Over their careers, they’ve sold over 100 million records and racked up 26 Grammy Awards – all while paving the way for future Latin artists. The show includes all of the greatest hits including “Congo,” “Get on Your Feet” and “Rhythm is Gonna Get You.”

3. Fostering the next generation of artists

   Staying true to their story was important for Gloria and Emilio. They played a big role in making the musical, even conducting an unprecedented international casting search to find the perfect actors, singers and dancers. Fostering the next generation of Latin talent was important. Emilio has spent his life working with rising stars such as Shakira, Ricky Martin, Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull.

4. Staying true to their roots

   The Estefans’ music has many different rhythms, but they’re all deeply rooted in Latin culture. The musical incorporates the sounds that defined their career – Cuban roots music, dance, pop and everything in between.

5. Be prepared to get on your feet
   The title of the show is no joke! The rhythm WILL get you – and you might even be pulled into a Conga line.
